Character History:
Hajime is a second year student in high school. She lives in Tachikawa City, Tokyo, Japan. She was changed into a Gatchaman by the power of the Alien JJ while having lunch on the roof of her school. After he wrapped his robes around Hajime, JJ reached into her chest and pulled out a NOTE. After doing so he left Hajime there without answers, but the book itself opened to show Hajime what the other Gatchaman had been writing to each other. This is how she was able to find the other Gatchaman.
Hajime sees Sugane transform and introduces herself to him after he fights a Mess. They are both students at the same school, though Sugane is a third year. After the fight the two head back to school. He is the one that takes her to the Gatchaman base for the first time after school.
Hahjime makes quite the impression when she meets everyone. The leader, an Alien she names Pai-san, puts her under Sugane’s care. She meets D-san, Jou-san, and Utsutsu as well, who are also Gatchaman.
They start to tell Hajmie about her NOTE and the team’s role as Gatchaman. They were gathered to fight any alien criminals that threaten earth and are the protectors of the plant. It seems an outside Alien force thinks that earth needs protecting. The NOTE it is the manifestation of her soul and if destroyed could mean her death. The NOTE is used as instant communication between team members and it is also how JJ gives the team their orders. The team uses the NOTES to transform into their Gatchaman suits. They can also use something called “Amnesia Effect” to make sure on one sees them. After seeing JJ again, Hajime and Sugane are sent to investigate the Mess in the city. She is told that the Mess have been causing all kinds of trouble and abducting people in the city. The team has been fighting the Mess and rescuing the people, though some are still missing.
From the start of the fight with the Mess, Hajime is able to transform, see, understand and utilize her Gatchaman powers without any troubles. She attacks the Mess that JJ sent them after with ease. However, she stops when it starts to imitate her actions and ends up letting it escape.
Sugane and Hajime end up just going home after the Mess escapes. The Gatchaman lease the entire thirteenth floor of an apartment complex and that turns out to be Hajime’s new home! She is sharing an apartment with Sugane and Pai-san. They all have dinner together where it is first shown that Hajime makes really odd looking but yummy food.
The next day Hajime shows off the GALAXY collage group to Sugane! GALAXY seems to be just a way for people to meet up and communicate each other as first, but it seems it has been used to help many people recently. The Collage group is a group that Hajime made to help send nice things to the victims of a recent disaster in Japan. She has brought many people together with her group, including the fire chief and mayor of the city.
The next time JJ sends Hajime and Sugane off to investigate the Mess, Hajime uses maste tape; or really fancy masking tape, to restrain Sugane from attacking like he did before. Instead, she uses her transformation to play a game of tag with the Mess. The Mess then calms and becomes friendly with Hajime after she removes her transformation. It even shows them where are the missing people are and stops abducting them. Hajime lovingly calls the Mess Messy-chan from then on.
Next GALAXY is used to help save many people from a contaminated batch of milk. Hajime and her fellow students are warned by the system that the milk that was sent out was botched by being left unrefrigerated for many hours, and they use their collective power to unplug the vending machines and keep many in their school from becoming sick.
Next, Jou-san runs into an odd alien that also has a note. He witnesses the Alien turning into another human and then stabbing several people in that human’s form. He tells the team but Pai-san and says that should ignore it. This upsets Hajime because the Alien said that whatever happens next is their fault.
This is where things get complicated. The person that is running GALAXY is someone named Rui-chan. He was given a NOTE not by JJ, but by the Alien that is killing people by becoming them and using their form to hurt others. The Alien’s name is Katse. The power that Katse gave Rui-chan was making the CROWDS. CROWDS are the physical manifestation of the soul of someone Rui-chan chooses to allow to “Play the game”. With Rui-chan’s power, people can reach out and literally help others without having to be there. The CROWDS are transported there instead. Rui-chan does all he can to not use the power of the CROWDS though because he understands that Katse is dangerous and hurting lots of people.
JJ tells the team that the white bird will pay witness to the broken. Hajime is known as the white bird, so the team is keeping an eye on here. While out on a collage trip, they enter into a tunnel where several ceiling panels have fallen. This is when the Gatachman team first meet Rui-chan. Despite not wanting to use the CROWDS, they are the only thing that can save everyone in time. He uses the Amnesia effect, to hide the CROWDS, but because the other Gatachman also have NOTES the effect does not work on them.
The team watches as the CROWDS start to help and are highly impressed. Unfortunately, a fire starts and there is a huge explosion. It is from that point that the team really starts to help out. Hajime transforms; despite being told not it, and tries to say hello to Rui-chan. Rui-chan doesn’t speak back even when Hajime removes her helmet however and just walks away. In the end, many people are saved thanks to everyone’s actions.
When everyone arrives safely back home, Hajime is yelled at because she disobeyed many orders. Pai-san had been saying from the start that Gatchaman are supposed to be a secret, but the cameras in the tunnel recorded Hajime’s face and now Hajime is all over the news. People are wonering what exactly the Gatchaman are and what they are doing.
After being spotted at a store, Rui-chan invites Hajime to meet with him. He wants them to stop becoming Gatchaman because they aren’t needed in the new world GALAXY is making where people are connected directly to help. Hajime refuses, saying that all kinds of help are needed and it can’t just be one way.

Character Personality:
Hajime is an optimistic person by nature. If something upsets her, Hajime will look at it from a different side. An example of this is when Hajime is walking with Sugane and they are almost run over. Sugane yells at the car angrily, but Hajime isn’t upset at all. When asked why, Hajime says the driver might have been taking his pregnant wife to the hospital so that would be an okay reason to drive so fast even in an area with so many people. Sugane points out that there is no way that Hajime could know that, which she admits is true. She then counters by saying that even if it’s not true; didn’t thinking that it might be true make forgiving the driver easier? The answer is yes.
Hajime is highly artistic and spatially aware. Not only does she love to collage, but she also has a talent for DIY projects. She has made many of the things in her new room and the place is over flowing with color. She cut up a skirt of hers and made little bows to help Utsutsu; a fellow Gatchaman, smile. She really enjoys making others smile with her collages and other artistic abilities. She's also a really good cook, but her food doesn't always look like it will taste good.
Personal space invasion can be a thing with Hajime. She thinks many things are cute, and when she does she wants to hug them. This can be seen with Utsutsu as she often hangs off of the other girl's hip. This is one aspect of her cute awkwardness. She will also raise her hand up and say "Question!" when she's listening to people instead of just asking her question when the time is right. Another quirk of hers is answer people with her own name when called by anything other than Hajime. Despite these little eccentric ways of her, Hajime is a bright and outgoing person with many different types of friends. She accepts people for who they are and tires to understand them.
Many times Hajime is often seen as impulsive and irresponsible because of her blunt way of acting and speaking. She often doesn't follow orders and it can irritate those around her. For example, she was put under the care of Sugane when she became the newest Gatchaman, but more often than not she doesn't listen to his orders.
Hajime understands that not following ever order given to her upsets others, but she isn't willing to change how she is just to make others happy. Hajime always has a reason for her actions, she just doesn't tell everyone else what those are all the time. When Hajime does try explaining herself, people can't always understand her reasoning. This is most likely because she uses extremely vague terms, and even tries using sounds and hand motions instead. Even if no one understands Hajime though, she keeps moving forward no matter the struggle.
This doesn’t mean that Hajime always knows the right way to move forward though. Hajime will freely admit when she doesn’t know what to do or when she doesn’t understand what is happening. When serious questions come up she can even become upset and frustrated. An example of this is when the team has to decide what to do about the CROWDS and Rui-chan. Hajime is able to see the good and the bad in what Rui-chan wants to do but also knows there isn’t one perfect answer. Hajime doesn’t have all the answers and admits to her inability to decide. She doesn’t hold back in trying to find the answers she needs though.
Hajime looks at the world with open eyes and isn’t blind to the truth of good and evil. Hajime is willing to listen to any side of a story because things are never just black and white. This is best shown when she first fights the creatures know as MESS; which she calls Messy-chan. She can see that they are attacking people and that many of those that were attacked are missing, so she understands that they need to be fought. However, Hajime wants to see and understand them as well. When one of the Messy-chan starts to imitate her movements when they are fighting, she decides that it’s best not to destroy it despite what they had done so far. Instead she tries to befriend the creature, and it works! Because of Hajime's efforts, they are able to find the missing people with the Messy-chan's help.
Her free and open way of thinking brings all sorts of different people into Hajime's life. She believes that each person is unique and deserves to be respected regardless of their choices. Hajime sees that people may make choices that can be seen as evil when looked at in one way, but can be justified and right when looked at in another way. Hajime believes that it is okay when there is conflict. She believes that without conflict and trouble, the world can’t be the best it can be. This is often seen as Hajime supporting conflict, but she’s only saying that the world can’t be only one way because things would stagnate. Nothing happens without something to start the change and that something is often conflict.
Powers and Abilities:
Hajime is a Gatchaman. The Alien JJ turned her soul into a book and with it she is able to transform. When she is wearing the suit, she is sifted to a very colorful half space. She has a suit that has many different types of attacks, all of which she says in French. Not really sure why French but c'est la vie. Her attacks are as follows!
Blanc et Noir: Twin blades holstered in the boots of Hajime's armor that can combine into a giant pair of scissors. The scissors can also be used as a large sword when closed.
Petits Ciseaux: Small blue scissors that have a bird head and a blue G logo on them. Used as throwing daggers.
Balles Patsels: Red, blue, and yellow projectiles fired from a launcher on Hajime's right hand.
Wings de l'Avenir: A pair of retractable wings that resemble swan heads that grant Hajime the power of flight.
Grand Ciseaux: A secondary pair of scissors formed when the Wings de l'Avenir detach from Hajime's armor and combine. The Grand Ciseaux is smaller that the Blanc et Noir and is used as a short sword when closed.
Hajime likes making collages and is really good at them. She is wonderful at DIY projects and has done many of them to decorate her very colorful room in the apartment. She’s also a surprisingly good cook.
Somehow Hajime has been able to absorb an alien into her "soul", or space she is transported to when she is wearing the Gatchaman suit. How this happened is never explained in canon. I have read that on the Blue-ray DVD extras the creator said Katze tried to kiss Hajime to copy her as he had many others to cause trouble as her double, but was absorbed instead.
Normally you just hear his voice coming from her chest. She can open her chest up with hand motions so that other people can hear what Katze is saying. In the same way, she can cut him off from speaking. When transformed, Katze can take control of her suit, but Hajime is easily able to take it back if she wishes. She'll even punch him out if he becomes too annoying.
I am bringing her into the game from before this happens, but I wanted to make a note of the ability.

How is everyone?
I’m going to be painting a wall today~! Does anyone want to come help? It’s really fun to just pick something to change and then just do it~
Does anyone else want to change something today? Wouldn’t that be fun if we all came together and made a change to something really big too~? What do you want to change?
Third Person:
Over and under and around her hand water flowed. Hajime was sitting outside of the cliff side mansion, concentrating on this little bend of hers as she sat on the edge of the balcony. Or should she call this a bending? Hajime would be sure to ask about the proper usage of the word later. Everything about this world was still so very new; kind of over whelming, but still really fun!
“Bending~ Bending~” Hajime sang out to no one, making the water now freeze in interesting patterns as she thought about the past week. Every time she thought of something new she had seen, Hajime made the water shift into something that reminded her of it. First she’d been drawn to the waterfall district and all the patters. With those in mind she began to freeze the water into a few of the more common patterns. Hmm, what next?
The first place she had stayed was the cliff side mansion, so the water shifted into a door, then her bed… She wasn’t able to make something as detailed as the entire mansion yet, but she was learning! Oh! Hajime changed the water into the sunsets she had been seeing every night instead. It was basic still, but had a little more detail than the door at lest. Plus sunset were just way more fun~!
What else has she seen? Oh! Those teleportation things were really interesting as well. Hajime had used them several billion times when she found them on her second day to just hop back and forth between the districts. She tried to manipulate the water into the markings, but it was hard! She had been trying for days though and it was getting better and better. Hajime smiled happily, wishing that she could show someone her progress.
“Gatcha~ Gatcha~” She changed the words to her little song, manipulating the water to freeze into the Gatchaman symbol as her train of thought changed to her friends and teammates in an instant. The some ones she wanted to show this new trick to would very much be them. It made Hajime laugh a little, imagining how Sugane would most likely only be able to make the most basic of things with this bending power.
“Hmm, I really miss hearing Senpai’s voice, even though he’s almost always calling me newbie or being a grumpy pants. Is that odd?” Hajime mused to the little symbol as she tapped it and ran her finger over the cold surface. “Can’t help but think of all of them, little Gatchaman.” She wasn’t sad, just thoughtful. She hoped that everyone was well. Were they missing her? She’d forgotten to ask about things like that so far.
However, that train of thought was side tracked as her tummy decided the symbol looked like it should be edible instead of just ice! With her new thought, Hajime used her bending skill to change the water into ice cream. One edible Gatchaman treat~! Hajime started chomping down on that as she stood up. Maybe someone else in the mansion would like one too! “Gatcha~ Gatcha~” Hajime sang out again as she headed back inside. “Does anyone want ice cream~” She called out as she walked inside.

“Bending~ Bending~” Hajime sang out to no one, making the water now freeze in interesting patterns as she thought about the past week. Every time she thought of something new she had seen, Hajime made the water shift into something that reminded her of it. First she’d been drawn to the waterfall district and all the patters. With those in mind she began to freeze the water into a few of the more common patterns. Hmm, what next?
The first place she had stayed was the cliff side mansion, so the water shifted into a door, then her bed… She wasn’t able to make something as detailed as the entire mansion yet, but she was learning! Oh! Hajime changed the water into the sunsets she had been seeing every night instead. It was basic still, but had a little more detail than the door at lest. Plus sunset were just way more fun~!
What else has she seen? Oh! Those teleportation things were really interesting as well. Hajime had used them several billion times when she found them on her second day to just hop back and forth between the districts. She tried to manipulate the water into the markings, but it was hard! She had been trying for days though and it was getting better and better. Hajime smiled happily, wishing that she could show someone her progress.
“Gatcha~ Gatcha~” She changed the words to her little song, manipulating the water to freeze into the Gatchaman symbol as her train of thought changed to her friends and teammates in an instant. The some ones she wanted to show this new trick to would very much be them. It made Hajime laugh a little, imagining how Sugane would most likely only be able to make the most basic of things with this bending power.
“Hmm, I really miss hearing Senpai’s voice, even though he’s almost always calling me newbie or being a grumpy pants. Is that odd?” Hajime mused to the little symbol as she tapped it and ran her finger over the cold surface. “Can’t help but think of all of them, little Gatchaman.” She wasn’t sad, just thoughtful. She hoped that everyone was well. Were they missing her? She’d forgotten to ask about things like that so far.
However, that train of thought was side tracked as her tummy decided the symbol looked like it should be edible instead of just ice! With her new thought, Hajime used her bending skill to change the water into ice cream. One edible Gatchaman treat~! Hajime started chomping down on that as she stood up. Maybe someone else in the mansion would like one too! “Gatcha~ Gatcha~” Hajime sang out again as she headed back inside. “Does anyone want ice cream~” She called out as she walked inside.
